I.Installation and Debugging

Beilite breaking hammer can be installed in different mechanical equipment. In order to make the mechanical equipment able to operate normally and give play to the highest working frequency, it is better that the dealer or agent of the company executes installation, to guarantee safety of products and users.

Please check and make an inventory of attached objects of the product before installation and debugging, to avoid inconvenience to maintenance of the breaking hammer. The attached objects include [2 high-pressure oil pipes, 2 drill rods, 1 nitrogen gas cylinder, a suit of work clothes, a kit (the kit contains a set of gas-filling device and a set of tools for daily maintenance such as a knocking wrench)]. The kits with different models of breaking hammers are equipped with different tools.

Installation steps are as follows:

1) Before pipe connection with the mechanical equipment, check the hydraulic pressure and pipeline of the main engine. If the hydraulic flow of the main engine is bigger than the allowable maximum flow of the breaking hammer, it is a must to set it by a flowmeter. Correct main engine setting is critical to operation of the breaking hammer.
2)The pipe of the breaking hammer shall be installed with a filter element, to avoid impurities from entering the oil tank and guarantee the oil return line to pass the oil cooler, in case that too much heat results in reduction of hammering frequency, damage of sealing elements and strain of cylinder.
3)After checking the pipe, we should clear foreign matters in the pipe. Use an oil-pressure hose to connect the inlet opening and return opening of the pipe, and then open the stop valve, to make the hydraulic oil circulate for about 10-15 minute. Then, discharge the polluted hydraulic oil in the hose, to supplement or change new hydraulic oil.
4)Place the breaking hammer on the stable ground, and connect it with the main engine;

5)Install parts for the breaking hammer: when installing the drill rod take out the lockpin end cap, lockpin and drill rod pin in sequence, and then paint lubricating grease on the drill rod, install the drill rod, drill rod pin, lockpin and lockpin end cap in sequence. When installing and changing the drill rod of the breaking hammer above BLTB135, please use a lifting appliance, to guarantee personal safety of the staffs.

6)Install the high-pressure oil pipe: please take down the two end caps on the machine and connect the oil pipe joints of the machine; please pay attention to torsion between the oil pipe and the joint. The other end shall be connected with the oil-pressure pipe of the equipment; attention: use an independent oil-pressure pipe, not share the pipe with other oil-pressure pipes.


Ⅱ.Maintenance

1 Exterior Inspection

It is a must to have comprehensive exterior inspection of the breaking hammer and the main engine, to guarantee all the hydraulic connections are correct and fixed, and inspect whether the breaking hammer has blot looseness, oil leak, parts damaged, wear or omission. Inspect whether the side plate and the wear-resisting plate on the bottom have crack and wear. Operate the breaking hammer after confirming everything goes well.

2 Drill rod lubrication

After 2-hour work, the breaking hammer must have correct lubricating drill rod to prevent excessive wear between the drill rod and the inner and outer sleeves, and prevent fracture of the drill rod. Place the breaking hammer in the vertical position in lubrication. Make the drill rod stand up to the ground or rock, and press the piston to the drill rod. Suspending in the air may result in failure of lower oil seal during lubrication. Find the grease fitting at first in manual lubrication. The grease fitting under the breaking hammer, with corresponding mark. The grease fitting shall have a check ball to prevent leakage of lubricating grease. For the double-grease-fitting breaking hammer, the grease shall be hammered by a grease gun for about 10-15 times. For the single-grease-fitting breaking hammer, the grease shall be hammered by a grease gun for about 15-20 times. .

In automatic lubricating system, check connection of the grease pipe and grease fitting, to guarantee the storage of grease in the lubricating grease storage area or the lubricating grease cylinder is not lower than the required scale. If there is an obvious trace of lubricating grease around the drill rod on the bottom of the breaking hammer after operation, it shows that the breaking hammer has been fully lubricated.

3 Inspection of Inner and Outer Sleeves and Drill Rod

During every week or after 50 working hours, dismantle the drill rod of the breaking hammer, to check wear between the drill rod and inner and outer sleeves. Correct support of the inner and outer sleeves for the drill rod is critical to prolonging service life of the internal parts of the breaking hammer, therefore, inspection of the drill rod and inner and outer sleeves is important in daily maintenance. Please refer to Operation and maintenance manual to learn correct wear limit of the breaking hammer. To inspect the spacing between the drill rod and the inner and outer sleeves and to inspect whether the drill rod cotterway has excessive wear, a proper method is to use a manual grinding wheel to remove all burrs or prominences of the drill rod cotterway, after dismantling and inspecting the drill rod, to inspect wear of the sleeve: taking the photo of real object in the video, if you need to change, please contact the dealer or agent of Beilite, and entrust it to for change or maintenance.

In nitrogen filling or inspection, please do not stand in front of the drill rod in case of injury due to sudden popup of the drill rod. The nitrogen cylinder is filled with high-pressure gas, there special attention shall be paid in storage and use. It is prohibited to use other gases to replace nitrogen for filling. .

4 Nitrogen Inspection

In nitrogen filling or inspection, please do not stand in front of the drill rod in case of injury due to sudden popup of the drill rod. The nitrogen cylinder is filled with high-pressure gas, there special attention shall be paid in storage and use. It is prohibited to use other gases to replace nitrogen for filling.


Nitrogen Filling:

1) Place the breaking hammer before filling nitrogen.

2) Do not approach to the front of the drill rod in nitrogen filing because the drill rod may popup due to high pressure of nitrogen;

3) Before changing the main bolt or decomposer, please guarantee that nitrogen has been entirely exhausted.

Gas Filling in Rear Cylinder:

1) Connect the gas filling device with the nitrogen bottle and fasten them;

2) Dismantle the gas charging valve block and screw the gas filling device;

3) If there is no enough nitrogen, turn on the switch of the nitrogen bottle slowly until the pressure gage indicates the regulated value;

4) Adjust pressure slowly to the regulated value, and then close the nitrogen bottle. Open the nut on side of the pressure gage to discharge surplus nitrogen in the pipe, and dismantle the pressure gage.

5) Tighten the gas filling valve block;

Gas Filling in Energy Accumulator:

1) Connect the gas filling device with the nitrogen device and fasten them

2) Dismantle the end cap of the gas filling port in the upper of the energy accumulator.

3) Dismantle the nut from the side of the energy accumulator, to confirm the gas filling valve has been tightened.

4) Check whether O-shaped ring is installed in the lining, dismantle the plug and screw the lining.
5) After installing the lining in the gas filling device, loosen the gas filling valve.
6) Open the hand shank of the nitrogen bottle anti-clockwise slowly for gas filling.

7) Fill gas to the regulated value.

8) Screw the hand shank of the nitrogen bottle clockwise to close the nitrogen bottle.

9) Close the gas filling valve of the energy accumulator.

10) Loosen the exhaust valve of the gas filling device, to let out redundant nitrogen in the gas filling pipe.

11) Dismantle the gas filling hose, gas filling device and lining, and tighten the nut.

5 Storage of Breaking Hammer

After each shift, the breaking hammer shall be placed vertically. The drill rod shall stand up to the ground or other supporting faces, not be hung, which can guarantee that the plug is inside the hammer, to avoid pollution and rust.

No matter whether the breaking hammer is installed in the main engine, the hydraulic opening shall not be exposed in the external environment because pollutants can damage the main engine equipment and breaking hammer in startup.

If the breaking hammer is stored for a long term, take necessary measures to prevent rust and contamination. It is a must to block all the hydraulic ports, dismantle the drill rod and properly lubricate the drill rod and inner and outer sleeves. Place sleeper on the rear end of the breaking hammer. Fully release the gas in the cylinder. Push the piston into the cylinder from the front part. Cover a piece of waterproof cloth. Store it in dry environment or in the room.


Ⅲ.Operation Technology

1 For most workplaces, the engine speed shall be regulated to the maximum, to realize optimal operation and guarantee good cooling effect of the mechanical hydraulic system. Place the machine in front of the materials to be broken, which can make the breaking hammer easy to reach the materials to be broken, and avoid operation under the premise that the oil cylinder extends to the ultimate position. Place the breaking hammer between the track or tire, to realize stable equipment;


2 To operate the breaking hammer on side of the machine can result in instability of the machine and cause the chassis of the track machine to bear too much load, thus place the drill rod in the place having an angle of approximate 90°with materials as possible. To operate in the situation that the machine has a tilt angle with materials will accelerate wear of the drill rod and inner and outer sleeves, and may result in failure of drill rod. Only after the breaking hammer’s drill rod stands up to materials can breaking be started. After the drill rod is correctly positioned on the material to be broken, press the drill rod with enough force so that the front end of the machine relaxed. The front wheel or track shall just leave the ground, but not leave the ground completely to have visible interspace. Keep the state in the process that the breaking hammer penetrates materials.


3 Avoid continuous operation of the breaking hammer in the same position for more than 1 minute. If the drill rod does not penetrate materials, readjust the hammering position of the breaking hammer. Hammer for too long time in the same position will result in influence on produce due to damage to the drill rod and dust accumulation in materials. To replace the hammering position can make the grease lubricating drill rod and lining reduce heat and avoid too early wear.


4 It is not allowed to operate the breaking hammer when the oil temperature is over 80℃. It will reduce the service life of seal parts if operation is not stopped after the oil temperature exceeds standard. Reduction of hydraulic oil viscosity caused by high temperature may also cause internal damage of the hammer;


5 Stop breaking if the material fractures, to avoid falling of the breaking hammer in the broken material, otherwise, it will result in empty hammering and knocking damage. Empty hammering can damage the drill rod and cause damage of the hammer and internal components.


6 These are basic operating techniques, what’s more, there are some other matters needing attention in operation of Beilite breaking hammer.

a It is not allowed to use the drill rod for levering. Levering can cause the assembly of the breaking hammer to cause high stress and cause damage to the breaking hammer

b It is prohibited to operate the breaking hammer under water. If you need underwater operation, please consult your Beilite dealer.
c It is not allowed to adopt the drill rod to lift or move objects, otherwise it will damage the cylinder of the breaking hammer and other parts. It is not allowed to operate the breaking hammer at the end point of stroke in the machine oil cylinder.

d It is not allowed to use the breaking hammer for digging, cleaning, flattening or moving objects in other ways. For large breaking hammers, the wear-resisting plate on the bottom can relocate the object. It is not allowed to try to use the side higher than the position of the wear-resisting plate to move materials, otherwise, it will cause damage.
